Well, once again the chaos of a new year and a game jam have caused me to fall behind on my workblog. Let's fix that. The first few weeks were set aside to establish new projects for the semester, and I signed onto a rougelite game as a 3d artists. The first two weeks were then started by establishing a visual style and working with concepts. From there I started working with early concepts.

it was around this time that the game jam started. The theme this time around was excavation. After some quick discussion I settled on joining a a game that mixed tower defense and first person shooters. And with all that in mind, I started on some turret designs.

In the first week I also helped concept the level itself, and created several sketches.

The second week continued much the same, and I made another turret model

Following this, I du into getting the environment and lighting setup properly. I had passed the level modeling off to another artist, and now had it back to get to work on.

In addition to the location work, I also made a lightning texture for the electric turret!

I also made some other assorted props! (Excluding the shovels)

Looking back on the project I feel we did rather well, but most definitely struggled with communication. We only got playable the day before it was due, and the entire game had quite a few issues. If I had to improve my performance, I would mostly need to get better with maintaining communication so all parts of the project are done, and not just my own. That said, I am happy that we have a finished product, which can be found here!
