Following our meeting last week, I had to face one major problem for the writing team. Google drive was not a suitable solution for our organization system. With this in mind, I started looking around for a way to connect out writing documents to our organization systems such as Trello or Git. Unfortunately, neither of these sites were an immediate solution. So instead, I found a new site to replace both of them. Well, I didn't exactly find it. Mr. Compton had mentioned a site called Backlog that worked in a similar fashion to Trello. And seeing as I was looking to replace Trello, I thought I would give it a look. As it turned out, Backlog had everything we needed. Which left one problem, we had to move everything over to it. I took the time to go through the sites wiki system, and copy all of our existing work over there. While doing so, I also set up a table of contents as the home page to allow easy access to everything. With all of the documents converted and organized, I made sure all of our artists and writers were given access to the project site. Unfortunately the free version has a limited number of members per project, so for the time being our programmers are still using Trello and Github.
With this done, I took the time to revamp my work blog. Hey, your reading that now! having previously been using Trello, I decided it would probably be best to make a more professional work blog for future use. So I took the time to copy everything over to a new site, and set everything up. I am probably going to reorganize it a bit more in the future. Oh, and I might decorate. Totally needs more foxes.
Finally, the last two days of the week were spent working on a lot of things, but doing very little. With the review coming up, I spent some time further organizing the wiki system and improving some of our drafts. But beyond this we did not want to start any large portions of the project until after the review. So, I spent some time reading more of the book on writing for games and a personal modeling project in blender. I will likely create an entry with this project when it is finished or I have more to show. Beyond this, we spent the last couple hours of class after the project review discussing resource collection. I put forth the idea to incorporate small minigames into the collection, and we discussed the options for each of the materials the player would collect.
